01Files read

What goes into YouMetry: the video, and the data that goes with it.

  • GoPro (GPMF track inside the MP4): GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope; speed fused with the accelerometer, GPS realigned on the picture, lean from the gyroscope, speedometer correction.
  • Recent DJI (djmd track inside the MP4: Osmo Action 4/5/6, Avata 2, Mavic 3, Mini 4 Pro, Osmo Pocket 3, O4): position, altitude, measured attitude.
  • Insta360 (.insv): remote’s GPS, gyroscope. DJI Osmo 360.
  • Tesla dashcam (SEI data inside the video, software 2025.44+): steering, pedal, indicators, gear lever, Autopilot.To be confirmed on a real file
  • Subtitles embedded in the MP4 (subrip, mov_text) read like an SRT. MP4, MOV, M4V, INSV containers; Apple ProRes, DNxHD, CineForm as input.
  • DJI SRT (every drone, every flavour), several SRT files of one flight joined; DJI Goggles SRT (batteries, latency, bitrate, satellites) aligned on the drone by altitude.

Eight worlds, each with its gauges, brand and 3D craft.

  • Drone (DroneMetry), Motorcycle, Car, Paragliding (ParaMetry), Sailing (SailMetry), Ski (SkiMetry), Bike (BikeMetry), Other (any sport).
  • Default gauges, idle visual and 3D craft of each mode; mode picked from the imported data.

03Gauges

The instruments burnt into the picture, by family.

  • Navigation: speed (5 dial styles), altitude, horizon (5 styles), heading, compass rose, track (mini-map), distances, return to home, satellites, flight mode.
  • Dials (4 styles): coolant, oil, boost, battery, fuel, intake, load, torque, consumption, lambda, air flow, oil pressure, ethanol, timing, ambient, barometer, short and long term trims, fuel pressure, rail pressure, catalyst, exhaust, torque demand, gear, brake pressure, gearbox oil, knock, vario, glide ratio, power, running cadence, gradient, depth.
  • Controls: sticks (5 styles), G-forces, lean angle, rev counter, pedals, steering wheel, engine temperatures, ABS and traction warnings, indicators / lever / Autopilot.
  • FPV goggles: goggles panel, drone and goggles battery, link, end-of-flight statistics.
  • Graphs: speed, acceleration, track (5 styles).
  • Panels: values, instant, flight data, video data (ISO, shutter, aperture), stopwatch, corner (apex, braking, lateral G), opportunities, standing start, race results, circuit, driver, date, session, device.
  • Smartwatch: heart rate (zones, beeps), thermometer, pedalling cadence, bike gears, battery icon (bike, drone, OBD), MTB jump, watch panel, pace and distance.
  • Ride summary: summary (distance, time, average, climb, heart rate, adjusted pace, moving time), splits per km, altitude profile in 5 representations, at the end of the ride or at the out point.
  • Weather and wind: weather of the outing (Open-Meteo, on consent), wind (IGC, spiral estimate, ground or altitude weather), rose turning with the craft.
  • Titles: opening, permanent text, closing, titles at markers; animations (fade, slide, zoom, typewriter, curtain); tokens {speed} {altitude} {height} {distance} {vario} {time}.
  • Views: 3D inset, video, PIP video, craft in 3D (4 models per mode, colour, wing patterns).
  • Free placement with the mouse, snapping, background-only opacity, metric or imperial units, saved layouts, collapsible families.
  • YouMetry Skins: draw your own dials (background, needle, scale) and import them in one click.

043D view

The route replayed over the real terrain.

  • Real terrain and aerial imagery from the best provider (swisstopo, IGN, Esri, PNOA, USGS, NRW, Südtirol…), background terrain up to 25 km, map instead of satellite as an option, flat 2D ground; tiles downloaded once, then offline.
  • Free, Follow, Chase, Top and Aerial cameras (smoothed, from wide shot to follow); ×1, ×8, ×64 or custom speed.
  • Track coloured by speed or altitude, plain colour, curtain to the ground, revealed track, ghost; track on measured altitude or on the terrain.
  • Craft: drones, car, motorcycle, paraglider, sailboat, skier, cyclist, walking or running figure, ball, arrow.
  • Gradient sky, place names with pins (add, move, rename), wind arrow, height above ground.
  • Horizontal, vertical 9:16, 4:5 or free formats; TikTok, Reels, Shorts, YouTube safe zones; 3D crop; 3D view exportable alone or as an inset.

05Video picture

  • Rotation, mirror, crop, LUT remembered per device; same rendering in preview and export.
  • White balance with picker, brightness, highlights, shadows, white, black.

06Simplified video editor

A built-in multitrack editor to cut without leaving YouMetry.

  • V1, V2, PIP (adjustable, croppable) and 3D tracks; thumbnails; sound per clip; undo / redo.
  • Blade, trim, roll, slip, multi-select, snapping; DaVinci or Premiere shortcuts.
  • Fades and cross-fades, keyframed opacity, black gaps, videos in a row, data that follows its clip.
  • Playback speed curve (ramps ×0.1 to ×16), correct speedometer at the cuts.
  • Markers → YouTube chapters, DaVinci EDL, Final Cut XML; detected moments (sharp corners, braking, thermal, jumps, summit, descents) placed as markers.
  • Music without video, sound file, music volume after the camera, LUFS −14 / −23 loudness and −1 dBTP true peak; simulated engine sound driven by the data.

07Export

  • Finished video in H.265 or H.264, three qualities, encoding on the Apple chip or the graphics card, bitrate and file size shown, up to 4K.
  • Transparent ProRes 4444 layer or PNG sequence for Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, Premiere; separate layers per track; 3D view export; accelerated export.

08Track analysis and lap timing

  • Automatic GPS lap timer, laps, sectors, timing gates, corner table (apex, braking, lateral G), opportunities, standing start, race results.
  • RaceChrono, Dragy, VBOX, RaceBox, Lap Legend import.

09OBD-II and live

  • Live Bluetooth and Wi-Fi OBD: 31 standard PIDs, CAN groups, brand sets by VIN (8 brands, 133 PIDs published on youmetry.ch/pids), BMW extended addressing.
  • Live capture and RTMP streaming with the gauges.

10Mobile app

YouMetry Mobile, free, on Android and iPhone.

  • Trackside console: lap timer, screen-off GPS recording, SRT export, OBD, video sync slate by flash, four alert sounds.
  • Android Auto; CarPlay to come. Files sent to Mac and PC with a 4-digit code; DJI logs from Android via Files + Share.

01Car

03Drone — DJI and FPV

  • Sources: DJI SRT (all models), embedded djmd telemetry (measured attitude on O4), DJI flight log, DJI Goggles SRT, Walksnail Avatar OSD.
  • Betaflight, INAV, Cleanflight, EmuFlight blackbox.To be confirmed on a real file

04Paragliding

  • Sources: IGC (varios, air speed, wind), GPX, Insta360, GoPro.
  • Gauges: vario, glide ratio, relative, true or both altitudes, wind (IGC, spiral estimate or weather), weather of the flight, horizon, 3D wing with patterns.
  • Wing over the terrain, thermals detected as markers, wind arrow, Aerial camera.

05Bike and e-bike

  • Sources: Bosch eBike Flow FIT (wheel speed, power, cadence), Garmin Edge or watch FIT, GPX (Strava, Komoot), GoPro or Insta360 on the handlebar.
  • Gauges: speedometer, power, pedalling cadence, electronic gears, heart rate, gradient, pace, MTB jump, ride summary, weather and head or tail wind.
  • 3D cyclist (road, MTB, e-bike), Aerial camera, place pins, ×64 for long rides. Not read: battery and assist mode, missing from the Bosch export.

06Hiking, running, sports on foot

  • Sources: Garmin watch FIT (heart rate, running cadence, temperature, jumps), GPX from any watch or phone.
  • Gauges: heart rate with zones and beeps, running cadence, pace, watch panel, thermometer, gradient, ride summary, weather.
  • 3D figure that walks or runs (real or simulated steps, three outfits), track on measured altitude, muted ×64.

07Sailing

  • Sources: GPX, FIT, cameras; the file’s sport picks the mode.
  • Gauges: speed in knots, head or tail wind, point of sail, heading, compass, weather; heeling sailboat, catamaran, board, craft in 3D.

08Ski and snowboard

  • Sources: FIT, GPX, cameras.
  • Gauges: speed, gradient, altitude, profile, heart rate; descents detected as markers; skier, snowboard or cross-country in 3D over the terrain.

09Common to every activity

  • Multitrack editor, animated titles, picture (LUT, rotation, crop, adjustments), H.264 / H.265 / ProRes 4444 / PNG export, vertical formats with safe zones, YouTube chapters, EDL, XML, YouMetry Skins, five languages, 10-day trial, web preview.
