Your flight, with the altitude, speed and map that go with it.

Your drone already writes everything down: position, altitude, speed, battery, stick positions. YouMetry reads those files — nothing to install on the drone — lays the gauges over your video and replays the flight in 3D above the real terrain, with the drone in its exact spot. For the video you show, and to understand the one you missed.

What it is for, with a drone

  • Show the flight as it was: altitude, height above ground, speed, distance from take-off, heading and mini-map on the picture — read from the SRT file or the telemetry embedded in the MP4.
  • Replay it in 3D over real terrain and high-resolution aerial imagery, with the drone in its exact spot, free or follow camera: the track coloured by altitude or speed reads at a glance.
  • Read the piloting: battery, flight mode and stick positions come from the DJI flight log; in FPV, the goggles SRT adds batteries, latency, bitrate and satellites; with Walksnail Avatar goggles, the recorded OSD and the blackbox log do the same.
  • Publish cleanly: finished video up to 4K, or a transparent ProRes 4444 / PNG layer for your edit — and the 3D view exports like any other shot.

What YouMetry reads, for a drone

  • The .SRT file of every DJI drone — Mini, Air, Mavic, Avata, Neo, FPV… — and the telemetry embedded in the MP4 of recent devices (details).
  • The DJI flight log (.txt): battery, flight mode, sticks, signal, gimbal — sent from the iPhone or Android with a simple code.
  • The DJI Goggles SRT for FPV, synced to the drone on its own.
  • For other drones, a GPX track exported from the maker’s app or a watch.

The drone gauges

Speedometer, altitude and height above ground, variometer, horizon, compass, mini-map and distance from home, battery, sticks and flight mode, shooting settings (ISO, shutter, aperture), and for the goggles: latency, bitrate, signal. Every gauge is placed with the mouse; a ready layout awaits the Drone world, and your own dials are drawn in YouMetry Skins.

How to do it

  1. In DJI Fly, turn on Video subtitles: the drone writes an .SRT next to each .MP4. Copy both, without renaming.
  2. Open the video in YouMetry, Drone world: the SRT loads with it, already synced. For battery and sticks, import the flight log from the Import menu.
  3. Place the gauges, watch the flight in the 3D View tab — terrain downloads once, then everything works offline.
  4. Export the burned-in video, the 3D view, or a transparent layer for editing.

Worth knowing

  • A DJI drone’s SRT has neither speed nor attitude: YouMetry computes them from GPS, cleaned of its jolts, and says what is estimated.
  • Nothing to plug in, no sensor to add, nothing sent to a server. The free version is complete; only export is limited to 5 clips of 30 seconds at 720p, for 10 days.

Questions

How do I show altitude and speed on a DJI drone video?

Turn on video subtitles in DJI Fly, copy the MP4 and its SRT, open the video in YouMetry: altitude, speed and map land on the picture, and the flight replays in 3D.

My drone is not a DJI: does it still work?

Yes, with a GPX track exported from the maker’s app or a watch: speed, altitude, track and 3D flight are then computed from the track. Sticks and battery, though, need a DJI log.

Does the 3D terrain need a connection?

Once, to download the terrain and aerial imagery of the area; afterwards everything works offline, and no flight data goes to a server.
