Your Lap Legend session, on your camera’s video.
Lap Legend times your laps and logs GPS and engine data through the DauntlessOBD; YouMetry puts all of it on the picture from whichever camera you like, in full quality, with every gauge where you want it and the lap replayed in 3D.
What YouMetry reads
- Lap Legend’s CSV export, straight out of the app: header block, columns named after their source (“GPS Latitude”, “Engine RPM”…), interpolated data.
- Position, speed and altitude from the GPS — the phone’s, or an external receiver such as a Qstarz.
- Lateral and longitudinal acceleration, for the G-meter.
- The DauntlessOBD channels: RPM, gear, accelerator pedal, coolant temperature.
- Lap Legend’s own laps, taken as they are, plus satellite count and GPS accuracy.
How to do it
- In Lap Legend, export the session as CSV.
- Give the file the same name as the video and put both in the same folder: they will open together.
- Lap Legend’s clock starts at zero: line the data up with the picture once by dragging the file’s strip under the playback bar — a standing start or a hard braking point make good markers.
- Export the video, or a transparent layer for your editing software.
What you gain
- Any camera: GoPro, DJI, Insta360, in-car camera — its video in full quality, worked on a big screen.
- Timer, current lap, last lap, delta to best lap, from Lap Legend’s laps.
- A corner-by-corner table: minimum speed, braking speed, lateral G, lap after lap — and a “corner” gauge that shows it on screen.
- Rev counter, gear, pedal, G-meter and track map, placed freely on the picture.
- The lap replayed in 3D over terrain, and a transparent layer for Final Cut, Premiere or DaVinci Resolve.
Good to know
- Lap Legend counts lateral acceleration as positive to the left; YouMetry converts it to its gauges’ convention, nothing for you to do.
- An external GPS receiver at 10 Hz or more gives a much finer track than a phone — for Lap Legend and for the video alike.
Questions
Lap Legend already times my laps: why YouMetry?
To see those laps on video: you keep Lap Legend and its hardware for logging, YouMetry takes care of the picture — freely placed gauges, corner-by-corner table, lap replayed in 3D, transparent layer for editing.
Do I need the DauntlessOBD?
No. Without it, the file already carries GPS, speed and laps; the DauntlessOBD adds RPM, gear, pedal and coolant temperature.
