DashWare has stopped evolving. Your videos have not.

DashWare was long the free answer for putting gauges on a video. Its last release, 1.9.1, dates from 2017; the publisher’s site closed after the GoPro acquisition, and it only exists on Windows. If you have a video and a data file in front of you, YouMetry takes over, on Mac as well as Windows.

Where DashWare stands

  • The last release is 1.9.1, from 2017: no fixes and no new formats since.
  • Bought by GoPro, then made free; the publisher’s site has since closed. The installer only circulates through third-party channels, which guarantee nothing about what you download.
  • Windows only: there has never been a Mac version.
  • No DJI SRT, no Insta360; 2D map; no transparent layer for editing.
  • Years later the question still comes up on pilot forums: mavicpilots.com carries a thread titled “Dashware alternative”, among others like it.

You have the file and the video, but no longer the software

  • YouMetry reads directly what your hardware recorded: DJI SRT and embedded telemetry, GoPro GPMF, GPX tracks, OBD-II and .vbo files. Nothing to convert first.

Switching to YouMetry

  1. Try it with nothing to install: the online trial takes a video with its DJI SRT or a GPX.
  2. Download YouMetry for Mac or Windows: everything is open, only export is limited to 5 clips of 30 seconds at 720p, for 10 days.
  3. Bring your files along: GoPro videos, GPX and CSV open directly. DashWare gauge profiles cannot be imported, but four ready-made layouts cover car, motorcycle, drone and paraglider.
  4. Pick a layout, drag the gauges into place, export.

Questions

Is there a DashWare for Mac?

No, DashWare only exists for Windows. YouMetry is a native Apple Silicon app, available on the Mac App Store and as a direct download.

Where can DashWare be downloaded today?

The publisher’s site closed after the GoPro acquisition: only third-party copies remain, and the last release, 1.9.1, dates from 2017. That is why this page exists: if you have a video and a data file to put together now, YouMetry installs on Mac and on Windows and reads DJI SRT, GoPro GPMF, GPX, OBD-II and .vbo.

Can DashWare gauge profiles be reused?

No: DashWare profile files and gauges cannot be imported. YouMetry starts from four ready-made layouts — car, motorcycle, drone, paraglider — and every gauge can be moved and resized with the mouse. Your data files, however, stay usable as they are.

How much does YouMetry cost?

A one-time purchase, no subscription: CHF 39, simple video editor launch price, until December 31, 2026 (regular price CHF 90). The free version has no time limit, with 5 exports capped at 30 seconds at 720p. Details on the Licence page.
