Any camera, any GPS.
Your camera has no GPS? Your watch, phone or bike computer does. Record the outing, export the track as GPX, and YouMetry marries it to the video.
What YouMetry reads
- .gpx files from any origin: Garmin, Suunto, Polar, Coros watches, phone apps, bike computers, Strava or Komoot exports.
- Position, elevation and time of each point; speed is computed from the track.
- Several files in one project: position from a GPX, engine data from an OBD file.
How to do it
- Record your outing with the watch, phone or bike computer while you film.
- Export the activity as GPX and put the file next to the video, with the same name.
- Open the video in YouMetry, then line up the track: drag its strip under the playback bar until a start or a stop matches the picture.
What you get
- Speed, elevation, climb, distance covered, compass, route map.
- The route replayed in 3D over the real terrain, with aerial imagery.
- An instant try: the online trial takes a video and a GPX, with nothing to install.
Good to know
- The camera and the GPS do not share a clock: manual alignment is needed. Tip: film the watch screen as you start the activity.
- A watch logging one point per second gives slightly angular curves; YouMetry smooths them without moving the corners.
- “Smart” recording modes, which space points out, degrade speed: prefer one point per second.
Questions
How do I sync a GPX track with a video?
In YouMetry the track shows as a strip under the playback bar: drag it until a visible marker — a start, a stop, a tight bend — lines up.
Does it work for cycling, skiing, running?
Yes: any activity that leaves a GPS track. The speed and elevation gauges and the 3D route apply as they are.
