Your FPV flight, with its real data on the video.

Next to each video, Walksnail Avatar goggles record your flight controller’s OSD and the state of the link. The controller itself keeps a blackbox log. YouMetry reads both: speed, altitude, battery, sticks and true horizon land on the picture, clean, in place of the burnt-in OSD.

What YouMetry reads

  • The .osd file of Walksnail Avatar goggles: your controller’s screen (INAV, Betaflight, ArduPilot) recorded character by character on every frame. YouMetry recognises the symbols: speed, altitude, distance from home, total and per-cell voltage, current, satellites, link quality, VTX power, flight mode, home arrow — and position, if you display it.
  • The Walksnail .srt file: the radio link, every 150 ms — channel, signal levels, signal-to-noise ratio, latency, goggles and drone temperatures — for the “FPV goggles” gauges.
  • The blackbox log (.BBL, .BFL or .TXT) of Betaflight, INAV, Cleanflight and EmuFlight: attitude recomputed from the gyroscope the way the controller does it, the radio’s real sticks, motors, voltage, current and consumption, radio signal, barometric altitude, GPS when the drone has one.
  • All three together: the OSD and the .srt load with the video of the same name, and the blackbox joins them for the horizon and the sticks.

How to do it

  1. In the Walksnail goggles, turn on OSD recording. Each flight then leaves three files with the same name on the goggles’ card: AvatarG0015.mp4, .srt and .osd.
  2. For the blackbox, enable logging in the Blackbox tab of Betaflight or INAV Configurator (onboard flash or SD card), then download the log after the flight.
  3. Copy the video and its .osd and .srt files into the same folder, without renaming them, then open the video in YouMetry: they load with it, already in sync.
  4. Add the blackbox log with Import → File and align it with the picture: take-off or one sharp stick input is enough.
  5. Pick a gauge layout, drag the gauges where you want them, then export: a finished video, or a transparent layer for your edit.

What you get

  • Speedometer, altitude, distance from home, battery (voltage, per-cell voltage, current, mAh used), satellites, link quality and latency.
  • A true horizon and the radio’s sticks, taken from the blackbox — where a cinewhoop’s camera drifts, the controller does not. The four motors in percent.
  • The “Craft in 3D” gauge: your quad or wing banking as it did in flight, at the gyroscope’s pace.
  • Export as transparent ProRes 4444 or PNG for Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve or Premiere — or a video with the gauges burnt in.

Good to know

  • The OSD only holds what you display. Without latitude and longitude on screen, there is no map and no 3D flight over terrain: enable the position elements in the INAV or Betaflight OSD, or add a blackbox with GPS.
  • The Walksnail .srt describes the link, not the flight: no position, no speed. The .osd is what carries the flight.
  • An OSD element in alarm blinks: YouMetry holds the last value for a few seconds instead of letting it vanish.
  • The blackbox has no clock: the controller counts from power-on. Aligning it with the video is therefore done by hand, once per flight.
  • With DJI Goggles, the goggles’ SRT is read instead: see the DJI page.

Questions

Where are my Walksnail goggles’ .osd and .srt files?

On the goggles’ memory card, next to the video, with the same name. If they are missing, OSD recording was not enabled in the goggles’ menu when you flew.

Does YouMetry read Betaflight’s blackbox?

Yes: the .BBL, .BFL and .TXT logs of Betaflight, INAV, Cleanflight and EmuFlight. It extracts attitude, sticks, motors, battery, signal, altitude and GPS if there is one.

Can I get the map and the 3D flight in FPV?

As soon as a position is available: latitude and longitude shown in the OSD, or GPS in the blackbox log. Without a position you get every gauge, but neither map nor terrain.

Do I need an account or a connection?

No. No account, nothing is uploaded: your videos and data stay on your computer.
